Batley Grammar School’s Year 13 students have once again achieved outstanding A level and AS with students passing 96% of all subjects taken and 65% of entries being grade C and above.

The top performer of the year undoubtedly is Wei Jie Jin, who repeated his excellent exam performance of 2008. Last year he not only achieved A level Mathematics in a year early but topped the scorebooks when he scored 100% in all six modules.  In addition to this he has 3 further A grades to add to his performance in Further Mathematic, Chemistry and Physics and will be taking his place to study Aeronautical Engineering at Imperial College London. This is a remarkable achievement considering Wei Jie Jin only entered Batley Grammar School to study in English less than two years ago.
Alexander Bembridge, a year 12 student from Huddersfield, has followed in Wei Jie Jin’s footsteps gaining a Grade A in Mathematics also a year early. He too is aiming to study Engineering and hopefully at Cambridge in October 2010.

“I am delighted with the achievements of our students. We are a small nurturing school and pride ourselves in helping to create rounded individuals and enriched young citizens that will contribute to the community. Our students come from diverse backgrounds and the grades they have achieved reflect their hard work and determination and the support and encouragement from our dedicated team of staff”.
