The keen-eyed amongst you will have noticed the subtle name change. We are no longer “The Old Batelians Association”. We have dropped the “Old” to become simply “The Batelians Association”. There is no doubt that many of us are indeed old! However, it was thought that we needed to reflect the younger to middle aged characteristics of our membership. It was also an opportunity to streamline the name and (in marketing terms) to rebrand the Association. Of course it won’t stop some of us still referring to the "OBA" or “The Old Boys”, nor should it. The Association is what it means to you and long may it be so.
Have you joined the groups?
As you are probably aware we are trying to expand greatly our subscription membership. Since the adoption of our new constitution, every former pupil of BGS is by right and by definition a Batelian. Many, though, have not taken out subscription membership. We are appealing to all Batelians who have not already done so to take out subscription membership. It is only £10 pa and is payable by standing order. Subscription is available by emailing here. Please take this opportunity to update your details and support the Batelians Association. For those of you who are still getting over the change of name some years ago from “Old Boys” to “Old Batelians” I would like to say that the school is now fully coeducational and, in the approach of the 400th anniversary of the founding of the school by William Lee in 1612, we have well and truly entered the 21st century. Here’s to the next 400 and a healthy, growing membership!
