May I take this opportunity to welcome you to the Batelians’ Association website. We hope you will find the website a useful way to find out about forthcoming events and also as a means of keeping in touch with us.
Much time has been spent recently in trying to up date our database of all Batelians’ details. Can you imagine what a task that is with constantly changing contact details? This is a challenge which we take on board with enthusiasm as it is the backbone to the Batelians’ Association. The database helps us to keep in touch by sending newsletters or any memos directly to you. Email is obviously the best means of contacting people but if you don’t have access to email, please make sure your address is up to date. Through this website you can contact our membership secretary with any changes to your details.
The Batelians’ Association supports school in a variety of ways. Naturally, this usually involves money! The Batelians’ Association organises fundraising events as a way of financing equipment or other projects. We are currently saving for the 400th Anniversary of the school in 2012 so we can hopefully provide something memorable.
As a former pupil of the school, you are automatically a Batelian. However, we do have a subscription membership of £10 a year. Although this really is a very small amount, as the number of subscription members increases, the cash we generate could help provide much more for the school and perhaps provide those items considered as ‘the icing on the cake’. We thank those Batelians who are already subscription members and hope we can encourage you to join too. Future fundraising events look to include a Quiz night and a Race night and the ever popular Golf Tournament is fast approaching. The next Reunion will be part of the 2012 celebrations so keep checking the website for details. We also welcome new committee members. If you think you would be interested in helping out, please contact our Secretary, Oliver Tiplady
Batley Grammar School has seen many changes over its time and our membership includes former pupils representing different stages of the school’s history. The Association is very excited about Batley Grammar School’s proposed move to Academy status. The school has been part of the community for four centuries and the proposal will allow us to better fulfil the founder’s aims and provide opportunities for the community.
I’m very much looking forward to my year in office and I hope I’ve persuaded you to keep in touch. In fact, why not add us to your ‘Favourites’ for a quick way to keep an eye on us?
