The Foundation Stage at Priestley House consists of a Nursery and a Reception class.
The Nursery is based in a purpose built, well-equipped room with an adjoining playground and a separate grassed area.
At any given session the Nursery has approximately 16 children aged between 3 and 4 years old. We aim to provide for the needs of each child and their parents and therefore we offer a variety of attendance options: full time, half days or part time.
The Nursery curriculum is based on the Foundation Stage guidelines and the children are encouraged to be independent and active learners. A ‘ free-flow’ approach is used, where the children can access open-ended activities at their particular level.
The Nursery is staffed by a fully qualified, experienced Nursery teacher, and by two part time qualified Nursery assistants.

The Reception class has an average of 16 children aged between 4 and 5 years old.
The classroom is large and airy and offers the children an all-round learning experience. As well as the formal teaching, the children have access to role-play and sand and water activities.
Reception is taught by a fully qualified teacher and an experienced teaching assistant
As in Nursery, the children follow the Foundation Stage guidelines with extra emphasis on mathematical development and literacy.
The school accepts the government Nursery Voucher Scheme that is valid until the term of a child’s fifth birthday.
We have also achieved Quality Assurance accreditation from Kirklees
