Entry to Batley Grammar School Sixth Form is dependent on GCSE results. The minimum requirement is normally six GCSEs at grade C or above, with at least a grade B in any subject to be taken at AS Level. A student may take up to four subjects in year 12 if these conditions are met.

In some subjects students are entered for unit examinations in January, as well as in June. Other subjects restrict entry to the June session only. Progress to A2 courses in year 13 will depend on progress in year 12 and on AS Level results. Most students will drop a subject after year12 and take three full A Levels, although students who have been very successful at AS Level may continue with all four subjects.
