Year 9 Drama Visit To London
Early on Thursday 27th June students and staff set off for a three day trip to London.
The first stop of the trip was the Warner Bros Harry Potter Studio Tour, and all students explored every inch of the famous studios, and even had their own broomstick ride through the streets of London. The entertainment didn’t stop there, following an evening meal the group enjoyed a fantastic performance of ‘School of Rock’ at the New London Theatre. The students displayed exceptional behaviour at both of these venues and managed to push past the heat and tiredness to enjoy the electric atmosphere of the performance.
Friday morning saw the temperature rise even further as the group made their way to Pineapple Dance Studios for a Stage Combat Workshop. Which included the opportunity to interview a professional West End Actor, James Wolstenholme. James gave some fantastic advice to the students in terms of hard work, dedication and preparation for the professional performing industry, The next stop was The National Theatre where students able to look at the backstage of a professional theatre, and enjoyed exploring the prop and scenery design especially, having the opportunity to interact with these objects and pose for an obligatory photograph.
One of the joys of a trip such as this is having a chance to observe our students exploring and showing real independence. Students had the opportunity to explore the Southbank, Covent Garden and M&M World in Leicester Square, and the staff were especially impressed with students integrating with others and displaying excellent social skills.
The final day, was spent exploring the Southbank of London culminating in a visit to the London Dungeons. This is the second time this trip has run and the school is delighted we have been able to provide students with the opportunity to participate in these curriculum enhancing events.
